SPOT satellite devices provide GPS location-based messaging, emergency, and coordination with Search and Rescue and anti-theft alerting and tracking beyond the boundaries of cellular. The SPOT satellite technology, powered by Globalstar, has initiated over 7,000 rescues around the globe.
The SPOT App allows you to view messages sent from your SPOT device, track progress, or monitor assets.
Features:
• Display SPOT messages with GPS locations on a standard map, a satellite map, or hybrid map
• Filter your SPOT messages by date range, message type, or device type
• Easily zoom to the most recent SPOT message
• Select preferred GPS coordinate display format
• Option to auto-delete SPOT messages by time or quantity within the app. Auto-deleted messages are removed from the app but remain in your SPOT Mapping account for 3 years

Pros and cons of The SPOT App app for iPhone and iPad
The SPOT App app good for
It works fine for monitoring a device but not administering an account. But, its not perfect.
I had hoped that this app had been created for people who want to track the SPOT device not the person with the device. Therefore, it should not require input of the owners user name and password. As it is now, it means either giving people your UN and PW or them not using this app. How about logging in with the device number as they are all unique.
Also, having a user selected opening map zoom level would be nice. The default zooms in too much.
The app works well as a basic tracking app. I would love to see the addition of geofencing capabilities to the app for those assets which regularly move within a defined area. Far easier to get an alert if they were to be taken out of that area, than to have to remember constantly to manually check that they are still in their appropriate location.
Some bad moments
I love my spot dont get me wrong. Helps my family not worry about me as much while Im off in the wilderness. And most of the time I set my custom texts before I leave but sometimes I forget. And I was hoping this app would let me change those but it doesnt. Basically worthless... Need to allow changes to the texts
Not sure what the point of this app is. It allows you to see the track you just made or view the messages you just sent. So what. I just made the track and sent the messages, I know where I was and what messages I sent. What I would like to do is use my smart phone to set my profile and set my messages before venturing out. This is a much needed feature since the Spot website is not mobile friendly. Try again Spot
I get the feeling this app was put together because someone told them they should have a mobile app. Other than showing you messages it really doesnt do anything.
Nothing for Ipad, and for the prixe we pay per year I was hopping an better apps
So many things wrong with this app I dont know where to start.
-The keyboard wont disappear
-Hangs! "Cant run now. Check in later". WTF?
Cant even log in. Lets hope this gets a fix soon....
App seems good, needs notifications. Should send a notification when a new message has been received through the app.
